CONDITIONS OF PUBLICATION

1. Editorial Board of the Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Linguisticsaccepts articles in Russian or English for publication. An article must be currently relevant and original.

2. The originality of the article according to the "Antiplagiat" system should be at least 70%, taking into account the correct borrowings from the author's own works, references to published sources, as well as the coincidence of terms and stable phrases adopted in this field of science.

3. The submission, reviewing, editing and publication of articles in the Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Linguistics are free of charge. No author fees are involved.

4. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the creation, conception, design, execuion, or interpretation of the reported study.  All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

In the case of collective authorship all authors must approve the final manuscript before submission. The Editorial Staff will contact all authors by email at submission to ensure that they are aware of the submission of the manuscript.  If there are some other persons who provided a useful guide to preparing the article, they should be mentioned in notes or in the section Acknowledgments.

5. An article must include tasks (issues) statement, the description of main research results and conclusions. 

6. The submitted article must not have been previously published or sent to other journals. 

7. The author bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information contained in the article (bibliography, facts, extracts, statistical data, proper names, and other information). All the cited sources must be listed at the end of the article with all the outputs, according to the requirements for the design.

8. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher to make a decision on the possibility of retracting or correcting the paper.

9. In article all sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

10. Submitted article must comply with the journal’s format requirements.

The average number of weeks between submission and accepted is 8 (eight) weeks.

We detect plagiarism using the service "Antiplagiat" (AO Antiplagiat).

Full-text versions of published articles and their metadata (abstracts, keywords, information about author(s) in Russian and English are available in open access on journal’s official website, in Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU (Russia), Cyberleninka (Russia) and in other archives.

SUBMISSION AND FORMAT GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLES

Materials are submitted only in electronic format to the Editorial Staff at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . A paper version is not required.

By taking this action, authors accept the offer of granting rights to use a manuscript in the journal (clause 5.1 of the Agreement with the Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Linguistics).

Author(s) should enclose a cover letter containing the following information: information about author(s), including full name, academic degree, academic rank, ORCID, contact information (place of employment, post, address, telephone, e-mail) in English; guarantee of an article’s originality; absence of unreliable information and plagiarism; written obligation not to publish the articles in any other journal before the date of their publication in the Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Linguistics; the author’s consent to follow the principles in the section “Publication Ethics” https://l.jvolsu.com/index.php/en/publishing-ethics-en.

Authors should agree with the policy of the journal concerning the copyright and distribution of materials that are being published under the license CC-BY and with the other policies published in the section "Editorial Policies" that is onhttps://l.jvolsu.com/index.php/en/police-en.

After submission, the article undergoes peer review. Then the editorial staff makes a decision concerning the publication of an article. The editorial board undertakes to notify the author of the acceptance or rejection of the article within 3 months from the date of submission. The editors reserve the right to reject or send the submitted articles for revision based on the relevant opinions of the reviewers. The revised articles are subjected to secondary review. When resubmitting the article, the author is obliged to fill out and send the "Correction Table," in which, in response to the relevant comments of the editor or reviewer, it is necessary to indicate all the corrections made or justify their absence.

After an article gets positive review, the Editorial Staff informs its author(s) that the article is admitted for publication and indicates the remarks of reviewers and editors that must be taken into consideration. In case an article is rejected, the Editorial Staff sends motivated refuse to the author(s).

The average number of weeks between submission and acceptance is seven.

 

ARTICLE FORMAT GUIDELINES

1. The minimum volume of the article – 0,8 printed sheet (32 000 characters), the maximum volume of the article – one printed sheet (40 000 characters).

Every article must include the following elements of publishing regulations:

1) UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index.

2) Title and subtitle (in Russian and English).

3) Information about author(s), including full name, academic degree, academic rank, ORCID, contact information (place of employment, post, address, telephone, e-mail) in Russian and English.

4) Abstract in Russian and English.

5) 5-8 key words/word combinations (in Russian and English)

6) Text of an article.

7) References in English (according to guidelines below). Comments and applications if necessary. In case of absence of Russian authors in the bibliographic list, please, give information only in English. 

2.1. Page and print format guidelines.

1) Page margins (2cm).

2) Paging (center, bottom).

3) Font (Times New Roman), size (14), line-space (1,5).

4) File must be created in Microsoft Word program and saved in .rtf format; file’s name must represent author’s name, typed with Latin letters.

2.2. References and comments format guidelines.

1) References to the bibliographic list are marked in the text of article in square brackets with a bibliographic source number.

2) Article’s bibliographic list, titled as Bibliographic list is made up in alphabetic enumerated order. Examples of references to different kinds of publications:

The Journal Review System

1. All articles submitted to the editors of The Science Journal of Volgograd State University. Linguistics undergo peer review.

2. The submitted article may be rejected both at the review stage and at the editing stage.

3. The executive editor checks the relevance of the submitted article to the journal’s scope and content, the requirements for the submitted article and handles it over to the editorial board, which evaluates the scientific value of the manuscript.

4. If the submitted article meets the aforementioned criteria, the Chief Editor appoints a reviewer who can evaluate the submitted article professionally and who shares similar research interests.

5. Review process is external. The reviewer cannot be represented by the author or co-author of the peer-reviewed manuscripts, as well as an employee of the organization where they are affiliated.

Articles are submitted for review every 15th day of the month. The review period is 3-4 months. Articles received after June 1 are submitted for review after September 1.

6. There is a “double blind” review system for the manuscript. The submitted article is assigned to the reviewers without identifying the author’s names and information about him/her, reviewers’ names and their institutional affiliations are not provided to the author.

7. The reviewer evaluates the topicality and scientific novelty of the research results submitted, their theoretical and practical significance, references to data in other papers, and the availability and completeness of the author's coverage of the latest publications on the research topic. On the basis of the analysis the reviewer provides the editor with an overall recommendation:

a) the article is accepted;

b) the article needs revisions in accordance with the reviewer’s observations;

с) the article is rejected (mentioning the reasons).

8. The author of the submitted article is given an opportunity to read the text of the review which is e-mailed to the author and the expert remains anonymous.

9. If the reviewer recommends major or minor revisions, the editor sends a decision letter to the author suggesting that recommendations should be accepted for a revised variant of the article or rejected argumentatively. 

10.The list of reviewer’s recommendations that must be accepted by the author:

- the absence of references;

- the absence of the latest publications on the research topic;

- material reduplication (publishing the material or its major part in other journals);

- the absence or scientific uncertainty based on unambiguous findings;

- falsification of information;

- the absence of the abstract, key words and other obligatory parts within the structure of the article.

11. If the article is rejected in case of a negative review, the information containing corresponding motivation comments is e-mailed to the author.

12. The final decision on publication is made by the editorial board taking into consideration the reviewer’s recommendations, scientific significance of the paper and its correspondence to the journal content. The rejected article is not resubmitted by the editorial team.

13. The editorial board’s decision on publication made, the executive editor informs the author about the adopted decision and states the date of publication.

14. Original reviews are kept in the editorial office and publisher of the journal for 5 years.

Appendix 1

The procedure of appeal against the editorial board’s decision

The author has the right to appeal against the editorial board’s decision in case of the rejection of the article or the necessity to make revisions in accordance with the reviewer’s advice. In such cases the author can challenge the decision with reasonable argument addressing the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief should be able to justify the prompt response and ensure to take the complaint further. At the concerned Editor’s discretion, the article will be forwarded to additional reviewers or the author will be informed about the correctness of the reviewers’ critical comments and the necessity to make corresponding revisions.

The article is rejected without the right to resubmission in cases of proven plagiarism or falsification of information.
