Abstract. The article reveals the possibility of applying the concept of the scientific paradigm in relation to linguistics and in the field of text linguistics in particular. This possibility is conditioned by the entropy of the accumulated knowledge in this area. Different scientists' views on the change in scientific paradigms are characterized in general and text linguistics. The validity of using the term "shift" is proved because it satisfies the existing state of affairs in the science and denies the use of the term "scientific revolution". The productivity of the paradigm approach is shown in terms of the Soviet period in text linguistics. It allows to present the classification of scientific concepts using the terms megaparadigm, paradigm and subparadigm. Text linguistics, regarded as megaparadigm, includes paradigms allocated on the historical principle, which include subparadigms representing a set of text theories, united on the principle of the text main ideas. Syntactic, semantic and syntactic-semantic subparadigms of text linguistics are described, continuity and interaction are proved to allow characterizing the paradigm of text linguistics of the Soviet period as a semantic and syntactic one. On the basis of these results it is suggested that the entropy of subparadigms in text linguistics at the present stage may be observed. Thus, it opens perspectives for describing text linguistics as a megaparadigm and for developping the classification which includes paradigms of several historical periods.
