Abstract: the article is devoted to the analysis of the ways in which categorical possessive situation may present itself in the complex syntactical wholes. The author describes the patterns the possessive constructions are built on. The key criterion of these patterns distinction consists in the degree of possessivity operating in general categorical situations.
