Abstract: different modes of idiomatic image interpretations in contemporary phraseological dictionaries are considered. The author characterizes peculiarities of lexicographic elaboration of the image-bearing motivational macro-component of the idiomatic meaning in learner's phraseological dictionaries. The modes of phraseme representation of «paradoxical» imagery are suggested.
