Abstract: the article focuses on various philosophical issues of the notion Other as the key notion in defining the linguistic category of otherness. It reveals the fact that the conceptualization of the notion Other is represented in the language forms, determining the status of otherness as a category.

Key words: cognitive dualization of the sphere of Self, notion Other, categorization and conceptualization of otherness, verbalization of otherness, linguistic category of otherness.
