Abstract: the article gives the analysis of emotive vocabulary usage in the text of Petr and Fevroniya novel. The attention is paid to the special importance of such vocabulary in the understanding of the author's meaning. The article also depicts the main functions of emotive vocabulary: to describe the character and to produce cohesion in the text.
