Abstract: the article puts forward the question of the necessity of complex studying of genres of speech as no sciences, nowadays engaged in their description, is capable to take into consideration the whole spectrum of disputable issues. The stylistics, in particular, investigates only the speech form of a genre, linguistic genre studies investigate only informal conversation genres, the rhetoric deals with genres of institutional speech.
