Abstract: in this article the results of comparison of the role of the metaphoric simile used in works by the Volgograd writers N.V. Suhov and B.P. Yekimov are fixed in the oral speech of inhabitants of Kikvidzensky area of the Volgograd region are presented. The article focuses on similarities and differences in the usage of the analyzed units in literary texts and colloquial speech.
