Abstract: the article deals with the results of the complex many-stage analysis of the semantic structure of lexical items, functioning in doctor-patient communication. The author reveals the mechanism of thematic coherence implementation of common lexis and terms, that is provided by presence of common semantic components and doctor's ability adequately to invert the semantics of common lexis, word groups into the proper medical term.
