Abstract: the article deals with speech-in-action weather-speak to research the mechanism of successful communication by analyzing 11 layers of information found in dichtemas when strangers in middle class English culture initiate informal conversation. When exploring pragmatics of the dichtemas, complex interaction of the individual and social, innovative and structural is revealed.
