Abstract: the article is devoted to the identification of ethno-cultural peculiarities of bodily code units in the Russian and English languages. The author of the article focuses on somatic concepts relating to the periphery of the sphere of concepts "Human Body". The analysis results of semantics and use of nouns затылок, пупок, бок and лопатка; nape, navel, side, shoulder blade showed similarities and differences in the semantic scope of the corresponding concepts determined by extralinguistic factors.
