Abstract: the article deals with the currently important problem of correlation of linguistic, ethnic and cultural consciousness. The comparative analysis of the associative material obtained as a result of the survey of the Russian cultural tradition representatives who live in ethnic homeland and who live abroad is presented. The similarities and differences in associative areas of language markers of national and cultural consciousness, that were pointed out by I.V. Privalova and offered to the informants as stimuli, are detected.
