Abstract: the article studies the necessity to distinguish PR-discourse aimed at forming trust attitude to a person, and image promotion-discourse aimed at misleading the public by manipulative methods. It analyzes the most typical forms of speech influence specific for public relations, such as the modeling of communicative events, types of assessment and myth-making. The article also demonstrates how these forms are represented in the studied kinds of discourse.
