Abstract: the article deals with modifications of derivational character in the semantic structure of spatial and dynamic prepositions of the English language "out of", "from" and "off". These modifications are connected with rethinking of differential semantic characteristics and destruction of categorical seme "movement in space". The analysis of language material displays that in majority of cases the given modifications lead to transition of studied prepositions into lexical and semantic groups denoting activity of different kinds.
