Abstract: the article deals with various points of view on the rendering of the possessiveness category in the German language; it gives the review of the German grammars on the issue. Describes prototypical cases of representing possessive relations in the German language of possessiveness; the verb haben is characterized as a basic instrument of possessiveness manifestation.
