Abstract. The article examines the structural organization and functional-and-stylistic peculiarities of internet texts, which enable communication within professional geological community. Being published across various digital platforms, namely forums, blogs, and social networks, they comprise mining and geological discourse. These texts are characterized by polythematicity, polycode nature, and multimedia integration; however, within the context of professional communication, these features cannot be considered to be fundamental. The majority of the analyzed texts reveal well-defined structure, high expressiveness and emotional tone, a predominance of informal communication, and a diverse use of graphic means for emotional expression. The peculiarities of internet text functioning, employed by the participants to interact with each other in the internet sphere, are contingent upon the genre of online communication. Forums feature the prevalence of formal speech style in the sections, where professionals communicate with non-professionals pursuing explanation and clarification of some information. It is realized by using various linguistic and graphical means. Specific features of professional blogs are determined by their aims: to notify professional community and create the image of an expert geologist, which is represented in the thematic choice of the blog (a story about geological expeditions with author's participation), and its linguistic explication. Internet texts published on social networks reveal thematic and stylistic diversity since converse there is more personal, while forums and blogs target much wider audience.
