Abstract. The article concerns verbal performance in manifesting factual-contextual, communicative-and-pragmatic and manipulatively-influencing potential of news headlines about healthy lifestyle and its values in the texts posted on Russian Federation news broadcasting platforms. The imprints of breaking from the conventions of the news story genre are stated as dominating pragmatics of non-exactness and manipulation opposed to an exact information segment in narration, which is manifested in the verb profile through the frequency index for the verbs that are referred to one thematic group when they are actualized syntagmatically in the frames of communicative-and-pragmatic functionality of the genre. The presence of the verbs with the common categorical-and-semantic feature "information retelling" in the headlines of Russian news about healthy lifestyle implicates signals about the break from the news story genre convention. The lack of event is hidden by constructing quasi-event content which leans from information exactness and truth as basic features of the new story genre. The noted markedness of the headline is clearly presented in its theme-rheme structure: the first (subject) position is taken by a name of an unknown person who dares to deliver information; the rheme part is formed with the Russian verbs рассказать (to retell), назвать (to inform), узнать (to learn), указать (to point to), напомнить (to remind), разъяснить (to explain), etc. The verbs in the headlines actualize stereotypical presuppositions; point to inferences and implications that contradict real knowledge of an addressee; generate a quasi-narrative context in the news and modulate attractive, prescriptive or manipulative sleight in the story.
Key words: news story genre, headline, verb profile, communicative-and-pragmatic manifestation, theme-rheme structure, presupposition, implication, healthy lifestyle.
