Abstract: the article analyzes the strategies applied in the interview discourse in the American culture and proves the leading role of politeness strategy in this type of interaction, which helps to create cooperative atmosphere, and to uphold the leading concept of American democracy – equality among people; markers of the politeness strategy used in American interviews were singled out and described.
